The Benefits Of Demountable Display Cases

Perfect For Temporary Or Touring Galleries

Firstly, we build our demountable display cases with the same care and craftmanship as our permanent display cases. Demountable cases are the ideal solution for temporary or touring galleries as they are easy to assemble and dismantle with no compromise on strength and security. Furthermore, their ease of use is a huge benefit to temporary galleries. You can even join the cases together to create a larger display if needed.

Bespoke museum display cases are what makes us special. Our display case designers blend cutting-edge technology with craftmanship to create bespoke display cases for museums and exhibitions across the UK and the world. The bespoke stuff is what really makes us tick – we love a challenge! Our display cases can be made to fit standard specifications, but we also offer a wide range of bespoke options to make the curator’s visions a reality.

Ideal Storage Solutions

If you’re short on space, demountable display cases are an invaluable resource for your temporary exhibition. Our talented team have designed and developed flatpack crates for easy storage and transportation. In addition, we always build with the curator in mind; our demountable cases are easy to assemble and dismantle. Finally, we provide training on how to handle your cases quickly and safely.

Why Choose Our Demountable Display Cases?

There’s no compromise on security with a demountable display case. Each of our cases incorporate high quality Abloy locks for maximum security. We understand that our display cases become homes for precious objects, often of high cultural or monetary value. As a result, we build our demountable display cases with reinforced glass and internal steel frames to protect the artefacts inside.

Lighting plays an important role in the accessibility of a display case and is a vital part of visitor experience. You can choose from LED or fibreoptic lighting and we can create a visual mock up for you to choose which solution would suit your exhibition best. There is a wide range of lighting options to choose from including plinths, top or bottom lighting or blacklist acrylic panels.

The demountable display cases are built to your specific requirements. We can ensure suspended shelves with a channel for hanging rods from ceiling fittings.

Low Reflective Glass

You can choose low reflective glass as an optional extra to your demountable display cases. This reduces any reflection on the surface of the case for a seamless visual experience.

Air Exchange/Leak Testing

Air exchange and leak testing is often a vital part of the conservation process. As many artefacts are fragile and sensitive to heat or humidity, it is imperative that the demountable cases provide a safe, controlled environment to preserve and protect each object from damage or deterioration.

Silica Gel

Likewise, silica gel can play an important part in the conservation of objects to help absorb any moisture. We build our cases with the curator in mind so that easy, discrete access is available from inside or outside the case.

About Us

The Glasshaus team pride themselves on premium, conservation grade display cases, no matter whether they are temporary or permanent.

We were proud to design, build and install 23 demountable display cases for the Nelson Mandela exhibition. The global tour was to display over 150 personal objects belonging to Mandela, many of which had never been seen outside South Africa.  We made sure that the demountable cases were easy to assemble and dismantle for each location.
